The effect of psychopathology on quality of life and disability in patients with fibromyalgia

Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate relationship between pain, depression, anxiety, somatic amplification and alexithymia in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), on quality life disability. As a secondary goal, predictors disability were evaluated. Methods: Participants 112 female aged 18 over, applied outpatient clinic University Health Sciences Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training Research Hospital Medical Ecology Hydroclimatology department diagnosed FMS according ACR 2016 Revised Fibromyalgia Diagnosis Criteria. Sociodemographic Data Form, Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Anxiety (BAI), Toronto Alexithymia (TAS-20), Somatosensory Amplification (SSAS), Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) Survey Short Form (SF-36) each participant. All data analyzed correlation linear regression. Results: Increased pain intensity, amplification, "difficulty identifying feeling" describing feelings" dimensions found related lower increased Depression, severity defined as FMS. Conclusions: Psychiatric examination especially terms well their physical complaints can be beneficial minimize increase life. To our best knowledge, this is first show predictor patients. Further studies will helpful understand relationship.
